The exploration activities Gümüştaş, which have now spread throughout Turkey, first began in Gümüşhane Hazine Mağara. Today, Gümüştaş carries out exploration activities in the polymetallic (gold, silver, lead, zinc and gold) ore deposits in Niğde Bolkar as well as Gümüşhane, processing the ore for the benefit of the national economy.

The exploration activities of Gümüştaş have led to several mining licenses, and the company evaluates potential mine sites through geochemical, geophysical, geological mapping, cutting and drilling. The company has been continuously increasing its investments in exploration activities, and since 2005, it drilled over 400,000 meters both above and below ground for R&D purposes. After 2007, the company acquired Bolkar, Kırkpavli, Tut and Yusufeli mine sites and prepared exploration projects. These intensive exploration efforts resulted in the discovery of the Bolkar Mountain sulfide Project in the Central Taurus Mountains, one of the largest complex ore (lead, zinc, gold, silver) projects in Turkey.
